INFERTILITY Rx BY PGS/PGD

Having a healthy baby is something all parents hope for. But, what if you could go even further than that? What if you could help ensure the health of not only your child, but your child’s children and many generations to follow?

PGS / PGD available at Daverose Clinic

At Daverose Clinic we offer couples who are undergoing IVF treatment for fertility reasons or couples who prefer to undergo treatment for the option of having their embryos examined for specific gene mutations or chromosomal abnormalities, the option of Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) and Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD). This analysis is performed on early embryos prior to implantation and pregnancy.
Used increasingly at fertility clinics around the globe, PGS / PGD has a track record of proven benefits.

What is PGD?
A sophisticated reproductive technology used in conjunction with IVF treatment to test early embryos for specific genetic conditions.
The process involves removing cells from a day 5 blastocyst (trophy ectoderm biopsy).
Apart from selecting embryos to be without a genetic disorder, PGD also increases the chances of successful pregnancy.

What is the Difference Between PGD and PGS?
PGD is often confused with PGS, however the two processes are implemented to establish entirely different results.
PGD tests for SPECIFIC genetic conditions like Sickle cell anaemia.
PGS tests for OVERALL chromosomal normalcy in embryos and is useful to detect Down syndrome.

What are the Benefits of PGD?
PGD is used to test for more than 100 SPECIFIC genetic conditions.
Miscarriage rates are lower following PGD.
Couples at risk of passing on serious genetic conditions can get peace of mind about biological parenthood.
Prenatal sex discernment can stop the continuation of X-linked genetic conditions.
Currently more than half of couples with two or more normal embryos and maternal age under 41 will take home a baby on a first IV.
